UNESCO World Heritage City
DWCV is located in Vigan City — one of the best-preserved examples of Spanish colonial town planning in Asia, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.
History
DWCV holds the remarkable distinction of being the oldest privately funded school in Ilocos Sur, with roots stretching back to 1822 when the SVD established it as Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción. This places it firmly within the Spanish colonial era of Philippine education — decades before public schooling systems were formally established.
Located in the heart of Vigan City — a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its remarkably preserved Spanish colonial architecture and cobblestoned streets — DWCV benefits from a uniquely historic setting that reinforces its own 200-year institutional heritage.
The college is administered by the Philippine Northern Province of the SVD, distinguishing it from sister schools DWCB, DWCL, DWCC, and DWCSJ which fall under the Philippine Central Province. Government recognition for tertiary programs was granted mid-20th century: Bachelor of Arts and BS Commerce (1955), Bachelor of Education (1956), BS Computer Science (1998), and IT programs in 2005. MBA was formally recognized in 1997. The current president is Rev. Fr. Edsel R. Demillo, SVD, PhD.
